Gilles Renmans will be on the starting grid for the second round of the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint, held at the Mugello International Circuit. The Belgian driver, currently competing in the Ferrari Challenge Europe, will tackle the event aboard a Ferrari 296 Challenge of AF Corse, with technical and strategic support from DAV Racing e TT Management.
Renmans previously raced in the series last year with the Double TT Racing team, participating in eight races and securing a podium finish. At Mugello, he delivered a strong performance in the two qualifying phases, where he achieved fifth and fourth place, respectively. Unfortunately, the races proved to be unlucky, as he had been unable to reach the finish line in either event.
This year, although championship regulations allow for two drivers per car, Renmans will participate in the Mugello round solo. This decision aims to give the 24-year-old from Halle more familiarity with the car he is using in the Ferrari Challenge Europe championship.
The event format includes two free practice sessions on Friday, July 11, 2025, each lasting 45 minutes, scheduled for 11:05 AM and 2:35 PM. The two qualifying sessions, which will determine the starting grid for both races, will take place on Saturday, July 12, at 9:20 AM and 9:45 AM. The first points of the weekend will be awarded in Race 1, with the green flag waving at 3:00 PM for a race lasting 50 minutes plus 1 lap. Race 2 will follow the same format, starting on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 2:40 PM.
