The second round of the 2025 Ferrari Challenge Europe took place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, and unfortunately it was not a lucky one for Gilles Renmans: the Belgian driver failed to finish either of the two races scheduled for the weekend. Renmans was behind the wheel of the #77 Ferrari 296 Challenge of the Francorchamps Motors Brussels team, with the collaboration of Double TT Racing and DAV Racing, competing in the Trofeo Pirelli, coming with a lot of expectations after the inaugural win in Monza.
The first qualifying session saw the driver from Halle securing third place with a time of 1:33.004, just a few tenths off the best performance, penalized with a track-limits in sector 2, despite the record in S1 on his first push lap. In the race, however, Renmans was involved in an incident on the first lap which forced him to retire immediately from the race, parking his car in the first sector of the Romagna circuit.
The following day, Renmans qualified fifth with a time of 1:33.264. Unfortunately, the Belgian driver saw his race become an uphill battle right from the start, due to a spin during the first lap. The #77 Ferrari tried to recover from last place, climbing back up to fifth position in class. However, Renmans’ race ended up a few minutes from the finish, marking a particularly negative weekend.
Renmans leaves Italy with 26 points, in fifth place in the drivers’ standings, aiming to recover the lost points in the next event at Hockenheim on May 24th and 25th.
