The 2025 Ferrari Challenge Europe season has come to an end at the Mugello circuit with the final two races of the continental series. Gilles Renmans competed in the championship behind the wheel of the Ferrari 296 Challenge #77 for the Francorchamps Motors Brussels team, with the technical support of DAV Racing and Double TT Racing, taking part in the Trofeo Pirelli Pro class.
Given the presence of the World Finals on Sunday, the weekend program was brought forward and the first race took place on Thursday. Under the rain in qualifying, which decided the grid for the two races, Renmans set a time of 2:18.056, valid for seventh position overall and fourth in the Pro class. The rain also remained for the race, making it difficult for many drivers and forcing race direction to introduce the safety car. Despite the few laps under green flag conditions, Renmans was able to gain two positions, taking a podium finish in the Pro class with a second place.
The following day eventually saw the sun shining on the track. Renmans had to start from seventh position in the Pro class due to the difficulty in setting a competitive second time in qualifying because of the rain. The race was affected by numerous penalties for track limits, but also by a significant comeback for the Belgian driver, which allowed him to climb up to fourth place, just off the podium.
Thanks to the results obtained in the last two Ferrari Challenge races, Gilles Renmans earned access to the World Final, held on Sunday. The Belgian secured sixth place overall, fourth in the Pro class, in qualifying with a time of 2:05.743, ready to attempt to conquer a final podium. During the race, a violent downpour hit the circuit, causing the red flag and delaying the start of the race. Half of the race time was spent under the safety car, but on the restart Renmans immediately managed to take third place. A further safety car once again reset the gaps and race direction chose to bring out the green flag on the last lap. Renmans thus gained another position and was crowned Vice World Champion 2025.
Speaking of the Ferrari Challenge, Gilles concluded the championship in third place in the standings with 116 points. The Belgian driver achieved 2 victories, at Monza and Spa, 6 podiums, and one pole position.
