Brilliant home race for Gilles Renmans in Spa

Gilles Renmans had a brilliant home race at Spa, the venue for the seventh round of the 2025 Ferrari Challenge Europe. The Belgian driver for the Francorchamps Motors Brussels team secured two podiums, including a victory in race 2. Renmans, behind the wheel of the Ferrari 296 Challenge #77, competes in the Trofeo Pirelli Pro class with support from Double TT Racing and DAV Racing.

Following the championship format, Gilles completed two qualifying sessions to determine the starting grids for each race. For race 1, Gilles set a time of 2:17.799, which earned him a second-place start. For race 2, he couldn’t improve his performance, securing a fourth-place start with a time of 2:18.056.

Renmans had an unfortunate start to the race on Saturday, dropping to fourth position after the first corner. The home driver was then stuck behind another car for the entire race, which prevented any chance of him recovering. Despite a 5-second penalty for not respecting track limits, the Belgian finished the first race in third place in Pro class and fourth overall.

In the second race, the opposite situation occurred: Renmans, who started in fourth position, took advantage of an accident ahead of him to move up to second place. A long safety car period halved the effective race time, after which Renmans took the lead. The Belgian brilliantly managed the race and the large lead he had over his rivals to cross the finish line in first place, winning for the second time this season in the Ferrari Challenge Europe.

Thanks to the two podium finishes at Spa, Gilles Renmans is now in third place in the drivers’ standings with 101 points. Unfortunately, however, the Belgian driver is mathematically out of contention for the title due to the gap to the leader. The next event will be the Ferrari Challenge World Finals, scheduled for the Mugello circuit from October 21-26, 2025.
